Nikita Anand was born in the Punjabi-speaking Anand family in Jalandhar, Punjab, India, during the year 1983. At age 19 Nikita was crowned Miss India 2003, taking over the title from Neha Dhupia, and represented India in the Miss Universe Pageant In Panama City, Panama during the same year, but ended up below the top 10 finalist, breaking an eleven year old streak.
