PV. Sindhu, a 17-year-old badminton prodigy from Hyderabad, has been making waves on the international circuit lately. Already ranked under 75 in the world, Sindhu won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games at Isle of Man, off the coast of Ireland. Sindhu was nine when she picked up her first racquet. Initially, she trained under Mehboob Ali at the IRISET training facility before she moved to the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, where she went on to win several titles. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu (born 5 July 1995) is a badminton player from India. She trains at the Hyderabad's Gopichand Badminton Academy and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation that identifies and supports Indian athletes.
